The film deals with the cultural aspect of the customs related to Christmas bread, made for Christmas by the Bunjevci, a people who live in the north of Serbia in the agricultural region of Vojvodina.  "I have made Christmas cake for many years; I learned it from my mum and from my grandmother. Although I am a city child, and Christmas cake was mostly made in the villages, on the farms. My mother is from Đurđin - she learned how to make a Christmas cake from her mother. Besides the cake being baked, the figurines symbolize Bethlehem. But, once upon a time, churches were far from farmsteads, that is, farmsteads from churches, so they would show Jesus, Mary, St. Joseph and the animals they raised in their backyards at home on their Christmas cake."
